I tend to, I imagine some sort of setting where the song would fit and I try to make the lyrics coincide with it.

Yeah I do. A lot of songs don't quite make sense when you pay attention, it's just catchy. Others have some real meaning behind them which is great.

It depends a bit on the song, but I pay more attention to the lyrics than I used to.

For me, definitely with a lot of the songs I like. That's mainly what catches me but other times, it's the insane beat or the overall nice feel of it. For example 'Figure 8' by Ellie Goulding has an insane variety of instruments and stuff in it. It's like a sort of dark, eerie, hopeful song with insane beats and guitar solos, or is that a synthesizer? It also has some incredibly meaningful lyrics for me, so that's probably what hooked me as well. All in all, it's an incredible catchy song with extremely emotional vocals, especially the intro samples, the chorus, the bridge and the outro.
I kinda wrote a review of that song instead of talking about my opinion on lyrics but, oh well, it's not like I rambled on about totally irrelevant information.

The average song I listen to only has 3 or so words, but if its a heavily lyrical influenced song I pay close attention, sometimes look up lyrics just to be able to understand it better

Well... since I listen to music that I don't understand (Japanese, Korean, etc.),
I find it important to know a song's lyrical meaning, and knowing the lyrics usually make me like a song more, assuming I already liked the song alone.
I also learn the lyrics so that I could sing along, lol.
